The name “Zirka” comes from the Ukrainian word for “star,” perfectly reflecting the studio’s mission to illuminate every dancer’s unique shine.
Zirka is renowned not just for teaching technique, but also for building character, teamwork, independence, and artistic expression. Our dancers have taken the stage at national and international competitions and festivals, earning multiple awards, while also performing in flashmobs, weddings, and public events.
Meet the founders
Yanina Antoury
Yanina Antoury is a pioneer of dance in Lebanon — a visionary who started from scratch with barely 10 students in a small school in Hamra. In 2009, she founded Zirka Dance Theater with a mission to cultivate creativity, discipline, and confidence in young dancers. What began as a modest dream has grown into one of the country’s most respected dance institutions. Over the years, Yanina and her team have taught more than 2,000 students, from toddlers to adults. Under her leadership, Zirka has become a cultural hub — hosting international choreographers, embracing diverse styles from ballet to hip-hop, and building a powerful, close-knit community rooted in passion and performance.
Lourdes Antoury
Lourdes Antoury has been dancing since the age of 5, with the spark ignited by her mother, Yanina Antoury. By the time she was 14, she was already teaching — bringing energy, discipline, and creativity to younger dancers. As co‑founder, designer, and creative director of Zirka, Lourdes is the force keeping the Zirka flame alive for a new generation. Many of her first students are now adults, and she continues to push boundaries with a fresh vision. Through Zirka Space, she’s launched a bold new chapter — hosting top-level workshops with international artists and Lebanon’s best instructors. Most recently, she’s leading the opening of Zirka’s newest branch in Dbayeh, expanding Zirka’s legacy with innovation, purpose, and heart.
